Adam joined our team full-time this year and has already made a huge impact. Officer Tanner repeatedly goes above and beyond to ensure that our parks are safe places to both work and recreate. Even while off-duty, he will stop by to check in with staff just to make sure that they are doing alright and don't need anything. Kelli, an attorney with the Travis County Public Defender's Office in the mental health division, consistently demonstrates exceptional commitment and dedication toward her clients. She overcomes numerous challenges in her role with remarkable adaptability. No task is too daunting for her, from conducting coordinated releases to transporting clients to psychiatric hospitals and provider appointments when no one else can to community searches for clients and after-hours visits to build and maintain rapport with incarcerated clients. Kelli also manages evidence review, court appearances, and the other tasks expected of criminal defense attorneys. Kelli is a super attorney, and her dedication is to be admired and praised.

Officer Lawrence, when an agitated and aggressive inmate approached a civilian counselor, did not hesitate to place his body between the counselor and the inmate, using his body as a human shield, without regard for his own safety. Brian Cherry and all the TNR staff that deliver 'commodities' to the HHS Community Centers are great! But I want to give a special shout out to Fred Lazo - he's amazing! He always helps unload even in terrible weather and is careful to take care of the food that is going to our neediest residents served at the Community Centers. This week he volunteered to spend extra time at the Food Bank to 'shop' for fresh produce to bring to the Center. This will not only help us feed hungry families healthier food but it will save the County funds as well! He's the best! We are so grateful for this partnership with TNR to get food to our pantries from the Central Texas Food Bank.

Tom has been an outstanding "boss". I say "boss", because he has been more like family to a lot of us at the court. When we are in a bind or dealing with personal life issues, he never fails to work with you and makes dealing with said issues, a BREEZE. When you feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, you can walk into his office (he makes it clear that his door is always open), lay down all your problems, ask for help or a solution, he helps or approves of said solution, and immediately, that weight is lifted. Throughout this pandemic, he has really stepped up and committed to being the best leader that he can be for his team. On Friday morning February 26th, the power was cut at our work site, and I called the security emergency number (x45555) instead of the Facilities emergency number from memory. Mr. Robinson answered, listened to my concerns and helped me problem solve the safety issues, and offered to contact Facilities for me. At which point I realized I had called the wrong number, but he was so helpful when I did call Facilities I had a plan and was able to offer suggestions to prevent our medical clinic's vaccines from spoiling and our food for distribution to hungry residents from going bad. Every day, Travis County Precinct Four Constable George Morales, III, puts himself on the front line, serving and protecting the citizens of Travis County, Texas. Come May 2019, Constable Morales will be yet on another front line; Morales will graduate with the highest honor, summa cum laude, from Huston-Tillotson University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, after having earned an associate’s degree two years earlier, also from Huston-Tillotson.
With grit and determination, a familiar trait of Huston-Tillotson’s students, Morales finished the requirements to graduate in October 2018. Typically, students finish December or in May of a given semester, but Morales got it done two months earlier.

So when some Travis County staff moved out of the Granger building, it occurred to Mo that would mean parking spaces might be available in the Granger garage. He inquired on my behalf, and that helped me be able to get a parking space moved from 700 Lavaca to the Granger garage. This helps me as an employee a great deal and I think him!

She has been my supervisor for 8 years and has been the most empathetic, kind, professional, and ethical boss. She stands up for her team and for what she believes in. She is a good teacher and does not threaten, intimidate or put her staff on the defense. I tell her she uses a "velvet hammer." I would not choose to work for any other supervisor and I have been Program Director and Clinical Supervisor most of my 31 year career. For this, Karen needs to be recognized. She recognizes us, however doesn't get the recognition that she so deserves. This is a "thankless" job.

Travis Cosby went above and beyond today at the Travis County Library. A member of the public urinated on a public sidewalk outside one of the library's emergency fire exit doors, along Guadalupe St.. Travis saw this and spoke with the person immediately. Afterwards, he found a rolling mop bucket and brought that to the spot, in order to rinse off the area into the gutter. This helped the public not have to walk through/over urine on the sidewalk along Guadalupe St. Thank you!!

I applied for the job while living in Houston, and therefore obviously experienced some trouble in the later stages of the application (submitting documents in-person, &c.) and onboarding process. Throughout all of this, Michelle checked in with me regularly and made sure I knew that she was available and eager to answer any questions I might have or to help with any roadblocks I might encounter.
In summary, Michelle Ayala is a credit to the HR department and to the Travis County Sheriff's Office as a whole.

One of those facilities issues that impacted customers getting into our building happened at our County building which is far outside the downtown campus. Not only did Rose talk me through options on my cell phone and offer to transfer me instead of asking me to call folks, but she followed up with work orders and emails about the issue, highlighting the urgency.I can't say how much I appreciate her not just making sure the facilities issue is taken care of but also her unfailing positive and concerned demeanor! I can walk out and reassure upset customers knowing that Rose is making sure the facilities issue is addressed quickly and completely!

TCCC Corrections Staff
Kudos to y'all for maintaining custody of nearly 2200 inmates on a daily basis. Being the behind-the-scenes of law enforcement, I am able to see my fellow staff maintain positive attitudes in the discharge of their duties, which by no means is an easy task at times.
Deputies and the APD arrest sometimes VERY difficult people, book them into the county jail, and then leave, sometimes spending less than 2 hours with their prisoner until they see them again at court. Corrections staff are responsible for the daily care of these difficult people, and without missing a beat perform their duties in an exceptionally professional away. Good job, staff!
