Construction on the North Campus Redevelopment Project at 5325-5335 Airport Blvd. is planned to begin in early 2019 and continue for 20 months. During this time, a temporary parking policy is in effect for the North Campus. No employee or customer parking will be allowed within the construction site. Travis County has leased an offsite parking lot at 6301 E US290 for employees to park in and then take a shuttle to the North Campus. WeDriveU is the shuttle service provider for the County during construction.

Below are some FAQs about parking and shuttle service. This page will be updated as more details become available. If the FAQs do not answer your questions, and you would like to get in touch, send an email to NCPROJECTS@traviscountytx.gov.

Here is the step-by-step guide to riding the WeDriveU shuttle.

FMD proposes to move the North Campus offsite parking lot to 2433 Ridgepoint Drive. Please see FMD's announcement and plan accordingly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Over a period of several years, a project has been in development for the empty lot at North Campus (5325-5335 Airport Boulevard). Commissioners Court approved an RFP for proposals in 2015, and the selected proposal is a mixed-use project that includes an office component, a mixed income housing component, and a shared parking garage. The final funding piece became available in July 2018, and construction is planned to begin in late April or early May 2019. For more information about the North Campus construction, including a site plan and renderings, please visit the project webpage.
Once construction starts, it will take 20 months to finish.
The parking lot is at 6301 E US 290, in front of a former Virginia College building, along the eastbound frontage road between IH-35 and Cameron Road.
Yes. Your department will work with FMD to get you a parking permit.
Parking will be assigned prior to construction start. Please check with your supervisor and chain of command to learn more about your department’s processes. You should receive a parking permit the week of April 15.
The shuttle schedule, subject to change, is available at this link. The most up-to-date schedules are available within the Tripshot app.
Yes, after 5 pm, you may park at 5501 Airport Blvd in any available space.

You don’t need to do anything to sign up! Just show your badge to the driver as you get on the shuttle. If you would like to use the features available with the app (vehicle location, estimated time of arrival), you will need to download the Tripshot GPS app located in the App Store for both iOS and Android.

How to use the app: search for Tripshot in the App Store and download the app. When prompted, enter “Travis County” into the field. You will be asked to provide your Travis County email address for validation of employment. An email will be sent to your Travis County email address to select a password to login to the Tripshot GPS app. From there, you can track the vehicle’s locations, see the estimated time of arrival or request an on-demand shuttle transport as needed.

Please refer to the Shuttle Rider Guide for the shuttle route.

Just show your Travis County ID to the driver to validate being an employee. If you wish to track the vehicle in real time or get notifications on alerts, please download the Tripshot app.

If you forgot your ID, but have downloaded the Tripshot app, please show the app to the driver for validation. Otherwise, please give your full name to the driver when boarding so that they can validate your employment with Travis County.
During peak hours (from 6:30-9:30 am and 3:30-6:30 pm), three shuttles will be running, so another shuttle will arrive quickly to get you to your destination. If the shuttle is full at other times and service needs to be adjusted, project leadership will work with WeDriveU to secure a higher service level.
Please check with your supervisor and chain of command for your department’s policies related to on-time arrival.
You will need to fill out a waiver form. If you qualify, you may then choose to pick up your transit pass or have it mailed to your home address. You may also pick up transit passes during annual distribution in February. Here are some resources for employees who want to use public transit.
The shuttle will be waiting for you at the corner of Airport and Denson. Just show your badge to the driver when you board the vehicle. In the evening, when returning to the Red Line, make sure to board the shuttle that is going to Highland Station, not to the offsite parking lot. The schedule can be found within the Tripshot app. The Capital Metro Red Line schedule can be found through CapMetro.
You will be picked up and dropped off in front of the building at 5501 Airport Blvd, in front of the south side door. At the offsite lot, you will be picked up and dropped off in front of the former Virginia College building.
  1. Guests are prohibited: Please show your Travis County badge to the driver for validation.
  2. Form a line: Please form a line at the pick-up location. No cutting in front of others and no standees permitted. If the vehicle is full, another one will be arriving shortly.
  3. Be kind to others: Please be aware of others in the vehicle and refrain from phone calls, music or videos that can be heard by others within the vehicle. Not only is this polite to others on board, but it also allows our drivers to focus on the road and the safety of the passengers.
  4. Don’t forget your items: In addition to storing purses, bags, etc. under your seat, please remember to check to ensure you have collected all of your items (including trash). For any items you have left on the vehicle, please email traviscounty@wedriveu.com to claim your lost items.
Please see the North Campus temporary parking policy for details, but here’s the important part: If you’re unable to find an available space in the County Parking Facility to which you’re assigned, park wherever you can find a spot and report the issue to the Parking Administrator (parking@traviscountytx.gov or 512-854-5287). The Parking Administrator will document the incident. If you have to pay for parking as a result of the access issue, and you request a refund, you must submit the receipt showing the amount paid to the Parking Administrator, who will forward the receipt to the County Auditor for payment. Employees in possession of a valid ADA hangtag are exempt from parking in the Employee Zone and shall have access to on-site ADA-accessible parking spaces while on-duty.
Your supervisor and leadership team will distribute parking permits based on criteria that prioritize both you and your customers. If for some reason you are needing to change your parking location, you will need to contact your supervisor.
When the new buildings at North Campus open, there will be a new parking garage with 338 total spaces. These spaces will be shared between the apartment residents and the office tenants. Approximately 200 spaces will be reserved for Travis County only, and more spaces will be available to County employees during the day when apartment residents are not using the garage. All of the surface lot parking currently available at 5501 Airport excluding the project site will still be available after construction.
Carpooling is available internally with your coworkers, if anyone has a similar schedule to yours and you can meet to carpool together. You can also sign up with Commute Solutions, which allows you to connect with people who may not work at Travis County but who have a similar commute to yours. Vanpools are available through Capital Metro. You may sign up with your coworkers, or be placed into an existing vanpool with people who may not work at Travis County. Vanpools made up of Travis County employees receive preferential parking spots at their workplace.
